You can catch my show in the evenings from 5-10pm ET. It is that time of the day when lots of folks are ending their work days and some are just beginning theirs. The evenings provide for a very loose and laid back show usually, and thanks to what we do here at WOXY, I sorta get to experiment with some stuff that might not go over as well during the day. A little known fact is that I do not get a lot of requests, but am happy to take a few extras once it gets later in the night. Don't tell!
Well, this may sound cliche, but I am truly an incredibly lucky guy to be able to be associated with this station. I have been a massive music nerd forever, but until I started my music blog over three years ago, eachnotesecure.com, I never really felt like a part of the music business in any way. And even then, being a blogger is just a glorified music nerd anyway.
Even so, when I came on board, WOXY.com was more willing to bring on someone that fit the music than someone who fit all the "radio" experience high points, and suddenly, I was qualified. Thanks to the good graces of Mike, Shiv and Bryan J, I got my chance and have not looked back since.
About 5 months into my stay here, I was asked to be the editor for a new music blog, The Futurist, which I WAS actually qualified to do, and have really enjoyed bringing WOXY into the "blogosphere."
Favorite moments:
- Being able to play music on the air for 5 hours each night for a station I grew up listening to.
- Being the "chauffeur" for Frank Black to and from the station for a Lounge Act before I was even on staff here on Halloween 2006.
Defining WOXY moment:
- Interviewing Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips at Bonnaroo 2006.
