Nothing can keep a good musician down… well, apart from "family issues." The Jesus and Mary Chain broke up in 1998, after many famous fights between the Reid brothers - Jim and William. Undaunted, Jim's onto something new: Freeheat.

Joining Jim in Freeheat is former JMC guitarist Ben Lurie and Romi More (bass) and Nick Saunderson (drums). The latter two were in a UK band called Gun Club. All four have been palling around for many years, united by the love of music, but never playing together as a group. This meeting was sparked by a common dissatisfaction with the music on the radio [ed note: gee, that's a big surprise] and the drive to do something about it.

Freeheat released their first recording, the Don't Worry, Be Happy EP on Hall of Records at the end of 2000.
