Superdrag's always been a band's band, and a misunderstood one at that.
Superdrag began in the early 90's as The Used. John Davis (no relation to the guy from Korn... obviously), Tom Pappas, Brandon Fisher and Don Coffey got together in Knoxville, Tennessee. Davis left to explore what could happen as 'Superdrag,' basically a vehicle for his own songs. Though he was more than competent at playing all the instruments, Davis snagged the other three guys so the band could play out live.
1995 saw the release of The Fabulous 8 Track Sounds of Superdrag on Darla Records and the start of a buzz on the band. The hype led to a deal with Elektra Records. Regretfully Yours came out in 1996. The first single, "Sucked Out," was quite the radio hit and led to a massive tour. Superdrag started seeing some popularity... until Head Trip in Every Key was released in 1998.
Elektra pulled support on the band and, rather than be pressured to write another "hit song," Superdrag chose to head out on their own. Stereo 360 Sound featured demos and other unreleased tracks on their own label, Superdrag Sound Laboratories. Pappas left in 1999 to pursue his own project and Superdrag added Sam Powers on bass.
Superdrag joined forces with Arena Rock Recordings for In the Valley of Dying Stars, and continues to treat the world to their great pop songs.
