Not sure if this is the right place, or if thread already started (didn't find one), but how about suggestions for other worthy internet radio sites?
I vote for KEXP 90.3 / KEXP.org (http://www.kexp.org/home.asp?noflash=false), 'Where the music matters':
Here's a good write-up on them in msnbc.msn.com (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3340939/).
I think you'll find they have the same spirit as 97X, but with a much more eclectic range of music.
A cool thing about the site is they archive all their programs, so you don't have to worry about missing the live broadcast.
Check them out. Anyone else have good post-Woxy links?

I guess that is where I will go. Being from Dayton I really don't even want to consider it. I will probably just subscribe to SPIN and Rolling Stone and start finding my own music. I have relied solely on WOXY for the last 10 years to turn me on to new music and they have done a great job. I would say at least 50% of their playlist is just awesome and the rest is pretty good except for the occasional Dizzy Rascal, etc. I will also keep up on the acts appearing at clubs and check out their music. Hate to say it but AMAZON.com can also help me find new artists. If I do a search on say The Wrens, amazon will make recommendations on similar artists. Hopefully I can keep tabs on Sledge and Shiv and find out what they are listening to over the years.

It's muddy, and once a year this huge stupid wave comes rolling down it destroying vegetation on both sides of the river. Damn you Amazon! I hate you!

There do not appear to be many options out there based on lack of response. There must be more options than this.

C'mon people, woxy is the greatest, but there's got to be some other cool options out there for us!
Doesn't anyone have any more links to suggest?
I'm starting with a search at Shoutcast (http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/?sgenre=College), with 'Alternative - College' the best place to start I figure.
My first start is SOMA FM (http://somafm.com/playlist/), where so far so good, but only time will tell.
If everyone committed to finding more good music out there tried a few sites for a few days then reported back, I'm sure we'd be set up with some good stuff.

For some woxy-friendly electronica, DirtyRadio (http://www.dirtyradio.net/) sounds promising to me.
By the way, here is the message board (http://istockphoto.com/posts.php?threadid=7162), where I found some of these sites.
I actually just googled woxy + online + radio (http://www.google.com.hk/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=woxy+online+radio&meta=). Figure if a site mentions woxy, then it may also mention other like-minded stations.

Check them out I did, and like WOXY they are. Thanks a million for the link. They just might keep me sane, and those archived broadcasts are the COOLEST thing ever. I might have to record some for playing in my car... because I gotta have the radio going when I drive -- CD's don't work for me in the car.
Thanks again! Everyone else should definitely check those kids out.

If you want something to listen to in your car or home, I'd strongly suggest sirius sattelite radio.. It's $12.95 a month, BUT Sirius is going to carry the ENTIRE NFL Season this fall!! AND on their "Indie" station, Left Of Center, they are currently doing a COACHELLA WEEKEND, which I have been listening to rabidly over the past day..
I found out on there that BECK was a surprise performer yesterday!! woo hoo!!
You can get some good deals on equipment since they run specials quite often. check out www.sirius.com

www.emusic.com is also a good site for people to go to. Somebody at these boards pointed me there last fall and I've been a subsciber since then. The option of listening to 30 second clips of every song they have before buying is great. The also probably still have a free trial going for those who aren't sure it's fr them.

I'm still looking around the KEXP site.... but I can't seem to find anything about a message board or even how to make a request. Am I missing it or are they?

no messagebaord at KEXP to my knowledge, but you can email a request to dj@kexp.org . They've played my requests more than woxy has.

It seems there must be some canadian station that bitstreams and would be good? All I've found so far is the edge in toronto (http://www.edge.ca/home/index.cfm) . I've also been listening in to BBC radio (click on radio one on this page) (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/) and it defintely has it's moments.
And maybe it's a little OT but check out the world wide radio locator (http://www.radio-locator.com/) if you want to find radio stations anywhere...
And to think, just last month I finally found a clock radio that has a good enough antenna that I can wake up to WOXY. I'm going to miss this place........

I know there are alot of threads like this, but I was testing out CD101 (http://www.cd101.com) in Columbus that was pretty good, no 97X, but pretty good. It is also independantly owned, but does have those annoying taglines tat the corporates have. They also have a message board. I'm sure when the time comes, we'll be forced to a new station.
